Summary
Chad Smith, a Creative Director, needed a portfolio site to showcase his work. The body of work spans print, digital, and conceptual pieces, so the design needed to support a range of formats without feeling disjointed. Chad provided design direction and requested the ability to add and organize portfolio pieces independently. The home page highlights featured work, while the work subdirectory offers a filterable view of the full portfolio. A separate page gives him space to share non-portfolio work, including personal projects and videos.
Solution
Next.js powers the site for fast development, with built-in routing that simplifies navigation between the home page, portfolio, and standalone project pages. Vercel handles deployment, while Sanity.io serves as the CMS, using webhooks so content updates go live automatically without triggering a new build. Together, this stack gives the client the level of customization and independence they were looking for, letting them update and reorganize the portfolio without developer involvement.
